The first half went very wet. Ball passed the goal line twice for Mexico and once for Cameroon.
Mexico enjoyed major part of possession in the first half. Dos Santos netted an excellent cross from Herreira but was denied by referee saying he was offside. At 15th min, Cameroon scored but were denied as Etoo was offside. Cameroon lacked penetration and sharpness for their attacks while Santos seem to be very difficult for Cameroon defenders to lockdown.
Etoo connected a cross from left wing but only to hit the post. Most of their movements were aiming only former Barca current Chelsea striker, but he was in shackles by the experienced Marquez and Rodriguez. Santos again managed to find the net in 29', but was again denied because of offside. But, it seemed he was onside and was denied a deserved goal. The Olypic champions continued to push forward but were far away from target for the rest of the half.
Second half started with a fabulous touch from Santos creating one on one chance with goal keeper for Peralta. Cameroon got a freekick just outside box, in the 56th min, when Etoo gave a brilliant pass to Mbia but he was fowled. The free kick was taken by Assou- Ekoto, who hit the wall only to result in a corner kick.
The much awaited, well deserved goal came at 60', from a pass from Herreira to Santos. Santos hit the keeper, but Peralta tapped the rebound ball into the goal.
Cameroon could not make good moves untill 86', when Etoo pushed a through ball and was wasted. Another chance was denied by the Mexican keeper in the 90'. Hernandez was the one who got the chance of a lifetime, when he hit a cross over and wide of goal in the 93rd min.
