Football is growing rapidly in India. World is looking curiously towards us "as sleeping giants". With the introduction of ISL, quality and professionalism improved. Clubs and academies increased. People's mentality towards the best game of the world changed in India too. With a fabulous football culture, Kerala have a great chance to dominate the Indian football. We should buckle up, tie our laces to run along with other districts to rise up. This includes a 15 year plan and basic criterias for academies for age groups 8-14. After a period of initiating the plan, need to check, evaluate and make necessary changes to the plan accordingly.

Development In India
After the professional league start in 2006(iLeague), AIFF have always tried to improve quality of football in India. Even then it was concentrated in few parts (Bengal, Goa, Kerala). In 2011, Junior I League (Elite) was introduced to develop football from younger age. Elite league added with U16,U14, U12 in recent years. With start of ISL, football got more social and media attention. ISL franchisees bring iconic players and infrastructure developments to the country. They were also asked to start grassroot academies. Now , there are 83 accredited academies in the country. In 2017, we hosted U17 World Cup and participated, scoring first ever FIFA World Cup goal. AIFF visions to start regional academies in every state, and has started and running 3 at the moment - Mumbai, Bengal and Bangalore. AIFF has been the main producers for U17 team which participated in U16 AFC Championship 2018, and reached second round with a commentator performance. (Team lost to South Korea in an 84' goal, a team that reached quarter final of U17 World Cup 2019).
In collaboration with Premier League, AIFF, ISL started Next Gen competitions, featuring clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal sending their U15 teams to participate among Indian Academy teams. Indian teams displayed great performance and Reliance Young Champs defeated Manchester United 1-0 in a thriller. FC Goa team also played well showing clubs typical playing mentality even in pressure.
AIFF has also started The Golden Baby league, to develop grassroot football.
We will be hosting FIFA U17 Women World cup in 2021 February. The U-17 girls team is eligible to participate in the tournament.

Style of Play
We need to create a style of play for the district. All the teams (sub Jr, jr, sr, women ) must keep same style. Eg. Germany planned and established a style of play since 2002 for all teams (Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, U17, Women, senior) and Brazil over the decades skill and individual talent based play.
Formations : 1-4-4-2, 1-4-3-3, 1-4-5-1
- Defenders should be able to win back possession and pass
- Under pressure build up and ball possession
- More ground passing
- Movement and support
- Penetrate, skill based attack
- Midfielders should be able to control the tempo of the game.
- Goal keepers must be used to pass and support as first attacker and last defender.
- Forwards must create space, pass, keep possession, use skill and score in final third of pitch.
- Confident, self thinking, calm and composed players need to be produced.
Change in mentality
*Make great players
*Consider creating a great player as a coach's achievement than trophies
* Make them love and enjoy game
* Handle pressure situations
Age Groups and coaching Pattern
Every child have physical age, mental age, social age and football age. Football age is evaluated according to his football talent, physical strength, mental ability and social awareness. Eg Kylian Mbappe, Samuel Eto'o. Kids entering this program need to be evaluated by coaches and add him according to his football age. Eg. If a boy joins at an age of 11 with no prior coaching , he must be put in u10 initially to develop his skills from stage 1. There is no point in making a highly talented 12 year old boy play among U12, but he must be tested among U14.
Every academy should have minimum 1 coach for each age group. Academies also must try to regulate to 14-16 kids in a session.
All players data to be maintained at DFA with a continuity from the entrance to program. If a child moves his location, he can join and continue his coaching in another academy from his level according to the DFA file.
All academy must have detailed training plan :-
- Pre season
- Tournament phase
- Recovery phase
Every child must undergo medical check up in every 3 month(4 times a year). Injuries need to be identified and avoided earlier to avoid loss of talent. Proper diet plan to be given for players according to age and playing level.
6 days coaching
2 days skills
2 days strength/endurance/agility
2 days injury prevention excercises FIFA 11+
U 10 - Fun Phase
U12 - Fundamental Phase
U14 - Intermediate stage
U16 - Advanced stage
FOUR CORNER METHOD OF COACHING
U10
- Fun filled playing atmosphere

- More winning chances for each kid
